Your photographer covers the ceremony, the portraits and the toasts. The photo booth covers everything else: the cousins who only see each other at weddings, the college friends after the third drink, the grandparents who stayed until nine. Here are the wedding booth ideas that hold up on the day.
Put the booth in the right part of the timeline
Almost nobody uses a booth during dinner or speeches. Usage comes in two waves: the opening half hour of cocktail hour, and about twenty minutes after the dance floor opens.
A three hour window starting at cocktail hour and running through the first hour of dancing catches both. For 150 guests that is plenty. At 250 or more, four hours keeps the line sane, since a booth realistically moves twenty to thirty groups an hour. Extra hours are priced individually: $150 an hour on the Open Air Photo Booth, $200 on the 360 Video Booth.
Turn the prints into a guest book
The Open Air Photo Booth produces instant 2x6 strips, so print two of every strip. One goes home in a purse, one goes in the book. Put a table beside the booth with a blank scrapbook, double sided tape, and metallic silver or gold pens, which write on photo paper where ballpoints skid. Ask someone to keep it stocked for the first hour.
The Digital Photo Booth has no printer, so skip the paper book there. It shares by QR code or text and includes GIFs and boomerangs, better for couples who want guests posting during the reception.
Backdrops: what comes with the booth and what does not
Every Peek-A-Booth package includes a shimmery backdrop and a lighting kit. It reads well under warm ballroom light and does not argue with your color palette. Flower walls and custom neon signs with your new last name still get asked for constantly, and they work, but they come from your florist or a decor rental company rather than from us. If you are bringing one, measure it first. The Open Air booth needs about 8x8 ft on its own, and a flower wall wants more width.
Rule one thing out now. We do not do green screen, so any idea that drops guests onto a beach or a Paris street is not something we run. We also do not operate a mirror booth or a high speed camera arm. If those are non negotiable, that is a different vendor.
Match the booth to the room you have
- Open Air Photo Booth: DSLR, studio strobe, unlimited pictures, instant 2x6 prints, QR sharing, personalized template, props. $400 for 2 hours, $550 for 3, $700 for 4. Needs about 8x8 ft.
- Digital Photo Booth: no printer, unlimited pictures, GIFs and boomerangs, sharing by QR or text. $300 for 2 hours, $400 for 3, $500 for 4. Smallest footprint, so it fits tight rooms.
- 360 Video Booth: slow motion rotating video, personalized overlay, one song choice. $500 for 2 hours, $700 for 3, $900 for 4. Needs about 10x10 ft of clear floor, the number venues underestimate.
- Vogue Magazine Box: a life-size illuminated box putting each guest on a magazine cover, with 4 to 5 magazine statements plus your names, event name and date. $1200 for 4 hours, $1500 for 5, $1800 for 6. Needs about 10x10 ft with 9 ft of clearance. An attendant is an add-on.
Questions to ask your venue
- How much clear floor can we have, and where? Clear means no columns, no service path, no stacked chairs.:
- What is the ceiling height there? The Vogue Magazine Box wants about 9 ft, and chandeliers are the usual surprise.:
- Where is the nearest standard outlet? A cord across a walkway has to be taped down, and some venues refuse it.:
- Do you require a certificate of insurance, and what name goes on it? We can provide one, but it takes a few days.:
- When can vendors load in, and is there an elevator or loading dock?:
The details that decide whether it gets used
Location beats everything. Put the booth where guests already walk, near the bar or in sight of the dance floor. A quiet corner down a hallway produces an empty booth. Tell the DJ where it is and ask for an announcement after the first dance.
On paperwork: the deposit is $200 and the balance is due 7 days before the event. Travel is free within 40 miles of the main city with a flat fee beyond that, worth checking for a barn or vineyard an hour out. Delivery, setup, teardown and an on-site attendant are included in every package except the Vogue box.
